Abstract

This article presents a global review of trends in scientific research on digital education at both national and international levels, through a systematic review of the literature on the subject. Indeed, the review enabled us to conclude that the evolution of research on digital education has correlated with the advancement of digital technologies, emphasizing different themes, namely: e-learning in its various forms, MOOCs, adaptive learning, learning analytics, open educational resources, and mobile learning. However, it must be stressed that the global pandemic of COVID-19 and the widespread integration of digital technology in education have led to a strong focus on scientific research into digital skills and assessment in distant learning.
