The doctoral journey is so challenging that some researchers hardly succeed to reach the finish line. High dropout rates, delay, demotivation and dissatisfaction among PhD students are common problems in doctoral education. Reforms in doctoral education should be shaped and designed in a way that helps tackle these serious problems. One way to do that is to provide doctoral students with continuous, up-to-date, and comprehensive trainings that aim essentially to help them visualize their thoughts and projects. In this study, we show how the use of creativity techniques in doctoral trainings may help doctoral students gain better research understanding of their doctoral projects. The use of creativity techniques in doctoral trainings is meant to enhance doctoral students’ creative skills related to idea generation, research development and organization, and timing.
