Abstract

This paper suggests an exhaustive analysis, rendition, and synthesis surrounding the research ethics through the lived experiences and the societal and academic behavioral framework of Moroccan doctoral students within a context of increasing technologies during an ever-expanding digital age. Moreover, the objective of this paper is to articulate and interpret the first hand lived experiences of Moroccan doctoral students in humanities from proximity and a situated knowledge so as to scrutinize, with contingency in mind, the challenges and the prospects these researchers face when it comes to the academic digital ethics and the proper principled way to conduct credible studies and conclusive investigations. By way of qualitative research, the data in this paper will be obtained through open-ended questions and conversational communication in structured interviews with five doctoral students in order to contextualize their lived experiences and the struggles encountered during their research process within an academic Moroccan framework in a technological era. The results of this paper pertain to the fact that Moroccan doctoral students endure serious problems when it comes to the question of ethical research, for the scarcity of affordable material and the abundance and immediacy of free hacked sources render the choice unconsciously biased towards the latter whilst collecting data. Considering all of this, the findings attest that for doctoral students to be ethical researchers who master digital medial literacy in an era of technological advancement, both awareness and integrity from their part, and academic and financial support from the part of Moroccan universities are required so as to achieve proper moral self-reflexivity as scholars in the digital research.
