Online language learning is a rapidly expanding field that is garnering increasing interest in academic research. This study systematically examines scientific research on online language learning following the PRISMA protocol. The primary objective is to provide a systematic and transparent synthesis of relevant studies published between 2016 and 2024. The analysis is structured around several key themes: the technologies used in online language learning, pedagogical approaches, current research trends, as well as potential benefits and challenges. The review highlights the importance of advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence and virtual reality, in personalizing online language learning. It underscores the need to create interactive and engaging learning environments, enhance teacher training, and adapt pedagogical materials. Furthermore, improving technological infrastructure and addressing the well-being of both learners and educators are essential to overcoming challenges associated with online learning and optimizing its effectiveness.
